Job Summary

This is a permanent full time post graduate position This position reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for producing products to customer requirements as well as installing and repairing signaling systems on the rail network.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of production equipment on a production basis with training
  • Make adjustments as required to maintain tolerances

Job Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Must be physically able to work on a jobsite which may require heavy lifting and operating hand tools.

Job Description: Railway Signal Designer Specialist

Reporting to: Director of Engineering and Senior Signal Engineer

Job Summary

This position is responsible for generating and/or reviewing signaling design drawings in accordance with standards and internal procedures with clients design requirements. Also works directly with the engineering team. Maintain the drafting standards of the company and clients. Maintain ISO standards.

Education
  • University/College Degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Experience with CAD
  • P.Eng would be an asset
Duties and Responsibilities
  • 5 plus years Railway Signalling design experience

Director of Engineering and Technology

Job Description: Director of Engineering and Technology

Reporting to: CEO

Job Summary

The Director of Engineering and Technology is required to oversee all engineering functions of the company, provide technical direction, set and enforce design standards, check, approve and, stamp and sign designs if so required.

Education
  • 15 Years’ experience in railway signalling and systems industry
  • ISO-9001-2015 training
  • Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Generates bids and bid documents for potential new projects
  • Review awarded projects or contracts to ensure financial responsibility and budgets are monitored
  • Identifies the resource requirements for projects for prioritizing tasks
  • Organizes the engineering workload and scheduling and distributes the work to the appropriate team members
  • Provides technical assistance to engineering personnel
  • Provides technical assistance to Software Systems Engineering team members through the Systems Engineering Supervisor
  • Acts as the responsible engineer as defined in the Railway Safety Act
  • Contributes to the design and engineering of products manufactured
  • Interfaces with customers and regulatory bodies
  • Checks and stamps all engineering drawings and designs
  • Oversees any other engineering functions. I.e. mechanical drawings, engineering documents, test plans, internally developed Operating and Maintenance Manuals
  • Ensure ISO Standards are followed and monitored
  • Maintain Health and Safety Standards in line with IHSA and requirements to maintain Certificate of Recognition with the IHSA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to make well-informed decisions under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Develop, train and hire team members as necessary
  • Maintain the company strategy, goals and mission
  • Business degree and Project Manager Professional (PMP) is an asset

Mechanical Signal Designer

Job Description: Mechanical Signal Designer

Reporting to: Director of Engineering & Technology and Senior Signal Engineer

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing engineering duties in designing/re-designing mechanical (Mechanically Functioning) equipment related to the signal systems.

Education
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Technology diploma and CET certification
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications and other data to evaluate feasibility and maintenance requirements of designs
  • Confer with engineers and production personnel to resolve system functions, and provide technical information
  • Develop, update, and check drawings/design layouts, and solutions based on system specific technical requirements
  • Prepare and update product build specifications to include assembly and detailed drawings, BOM, manuals and related design package documents
  • Assist draftsperson in developing the design detail drawings of products using computer aided design/drafting software
  • Provide support to Production Department and monitor aspects of production and installation to ensure the equipment is installed and functioning according to specifications
  • Investigate issues in the field or within the system documentation
  • Provide CAD engineering drawing support to Production Dept. i.e.: for in house and external customer projects
  • Responsible for maintaining current CAD Standards in drawings and development within the engineering department
  • Monitor submittal drawings to meet CAD Standards up to date
  • Maintain and update drawing and document database; keep current hard copies and file supersede version
  • General knowledge of ISO and all forms & processes which are relevant to the position
